Privet RvAF!

My friend Sergy (=RvAF=OSA ) asked me to post here an answer to a question he had. I am very hounered to do so!

OSA asked:
"We are trying to set up mission and we faced an issue with A 10, we cant work effectively against TOR, which was not set up as aim in brief, or we may not know well this craft.
Can you assist how to do this? A 10 and TOR?"

To destroy a TOR with an A-10 is not easy. Of course in real life, an A-10 would never have such a mission to destroy a SAM such as the TOR. In Lock however, it can be done.

The best way is to use ECM. Make sure to leave your ECM off. This way the TOR will fire on your A-10 at the TOR's maximum range. If you engage the TOR with ECM on first, then the TOR will fire at you when you are much closer and it will be too hard to evade the missile, this is a mistake. Here are the steps to kill a TOR with an A-10:

- leave ECM off and fly to the known position of the TOR
- when the TOR launches at you, turn on your ECM! The ECM will make the missile lose track. Look at your RWR to see the direction of the TOR and try to get a visual with your eyes on the TOR.
- lock up the TOR in the Television Display and launch a AGM-64D. Do not use AGM-64K because their range is not as great as the D
- after you launch the AGM-64D, break away hard and go low to avoid the 2nd missile from the TOR. Use lots of chaff and use any hills if they are near

The above steps must happen very quickly and takes practice.
